Hey Lauren, I just stumbled upon your blog from the DIS site and I have been checking out every post. It is super informative and really entertaining so kudos from me! I am going to a DIS 6 week program this summer and am deciding what housing to choose between a Kollegium and the DIS Residence Community. Do you have any advice what to choose? RIP Limpy. So, my bike got stolen yesterday after losing a pedal. I left it front of a Netto after I repaired the pedal with a trash bag and it fell off again. When I came back after class, my bike was gone. I probably should have been smarter and not left it outside of Netto, next to two bike shops… Maybe someday we’ll meet again.

I just got back from the most amazing week in Sweden and Finland! Here is a video Part 1.

Favorite moment: Jumping into a frozen lake in Helsinki, Finland (and apparently following in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe and the Weasley twins!)
Favorite meal: Eating Russian food in Helsinki! Blini, Sauerkraut, Bear meat?
Favorite site: Seeing the Murder of Crows Exhibition (opening scene) in the Kiasma Museum of Art and seeing the future Smart City of Hammarby Sjöstad

This is the process of my second studio project before our long study tour!

First comes tour model we made in about one day (worst day of my life).

Second is the model we randomly found at the architecture museum in Stockholm! (ours is obviously better!)

Finally comes the actual Stockholm Public Library!!!

It was really interesting studying first our model, than the architectural model and finally coming through the library and understanding the actual scale of the building really brought this quick project full circle.

I made this model with TheHagen, and it’s true what he said. Though, I would argue we spent longer than a day on it… It’s quite large.

Hip Hurra Det Min Fødselsdag!! (Hip Horray It My Birthday!) Danish Cooking 101

So yesterday, I attended the Danish Cooking class on Birthday Delights!! We made:

Layer Birthday Cake
Layer Cake with Meringue and Strawberry
The Birthday Cake Man (sort of like a gingerbread man, but a cake! I was told that sometimes the Danes will put jelly in the neck, so when they cut the cake, the child screams and the birthday cake man’s head falls off)
Cinnamon Snails
Homemade Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream
AND BUNS

It was so much fun! We baked, we played, we ate, we sung and we received the sugar high of a lifetime. Everything was delicious, especially the layer cake and the buns. Luckily, Wendy, my awesome group mate who read my blog (I am her #1 biggest fan now), accidentally put cream instead of milk (38% vs 1.36% fat) into the buns, so they extra fluffy and extra delicious! Mmmm I’m now hungry just thinking of them… So, if you want any of the recipes, just message me and I’ll send them to you!!!

Also, shout out to A Taste of København (another DIS blogger), who makes great butter out of heavy cream… oh wait, didn’t we need whipped cream?? :)
